ものには、誰かが過ごした時間が残っています。
使い古された衣服や道具には、持ち主の癖や過ぎた日々が目には見えないかたちで刻まれています。
池田杏莉は、そうしたものと身体の関係に目を向けながら、人の記憶や喪失、そこに残されるものについて制作を続けています。
誰かのものに触れる。誰かの話を聞く。そこにいた人の時間を想像する。
そして、ものは、いつの間にかそれぞれのかたりてになっていきます。
近年、池田は能登半島で人々と関わり、そこで過ごす時間のなかからも制作を続けています。
土地や人との出会いは、これまで向き合ってきた「喪失」という問いに新たな輪郭を与えています。
本展で池田が目を向けるのは、日々の暮らしが持つ静かな尊さです。
それは、さまざまな経験を経てもなお続く私たちの生そのものでしょうか。
それぞれのかたりてと共にひとときを過ごし、明日もまた「おはよう」と言える気持ちを抱いていただけますと嬉しく思います。
Things carry the traces of the time someone has spent with them.
Worn clothes and everyday objects retain, in ways we cannot always see, the habits of their owners and the days that have passed. Anri Ikeda has continued to explore the relationship between such objects and the body, reflecting on memory, loss, and what remains after a person or a moment has passed.
He touches someone’s belongings. He listens to their stories. He imagines the time of the person who was once there.In this process, objects gradually become storytellers in their own right.
In recent years, Ikeda has also spent time in the Noto, engaging with people and making work through his experiences there. Encounters with people and places have brought new perspectives to his ongoing inquiry into loss and what remains.
In this exhibition, Ikeda turns his attention to the quiet preciousness of everyday life—life that continues, even after passing through many different experiences.
We invite you to spend time with these storytellers, and perhaps leave with a little more lightness, ready to say “See you tomorrow.”
