人のひじには、痛点がほとんどありません。 作家は問いかけます。 「自分が痛くないからといって、つねっていいのだろうか。痛みを伴わないなら、何をしてもいいのだろうか」と。 画面の向こうで行き交う容赦ない言葉、あるいは世界の不条理。自分には直接の痛みが返ってこない安全な場所にいるからと、 私たちは他者への想像力を放棄してはいないか。本作は、現代社会の歪みへのメッセージが込められた作品のように思います。 Originally titled in Japanese: Pinching the Elbow At first glance, this piece captivates viewers with its playful, almost toy-like, and comical appearance. However, it carries perhaps the most explicit and powerful message in Yusuke Aonuma’s career, serving as a poignant commentary on current global affairs. The human elbow contains very few pain receptors. The artist poses a fundamental question: "Just because it doesn't hurt, does it mean it's okay to pinch it? If you don't feel the pain yourself, is any action permissible?" While much of the world turns a blind eye to distant conflicts and injustices—shielded by a lack of personal pain—Aonuma uses a lighthearted aesthetic to deliver a sharp critique of our collective apathy.
